It’s crunch time.
When we wake up tomorrow either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States. And one of two things seems to happen the morning after Election Day – either we’re defeated and want to give up or we take a sigh of relief and decide it’s time to rest. But I’m here to tell you that no matter who wins, neither of those are an option for us.
Even if you’re a diehard Trumpster, you can’t deny that this election year has been a little different than most. Clinton is under federal investigation – no further explanation needed. Those of us on the Republican side have had to confront some issues of our own. In my opinion, the fact that it’s come down to these two as the best presidential candidates in this great nation of ours is upsetting. America deserves better. As conservatives, it’s our job to see that America gets the best leadership – from the top of the ballot down to the bottom.
Yes, the election will decide who’s in the driver’s seat, or as Todd would say, on offense, but that doesn’t mean we give up or stop. As conservatives we are ambassadors for the values of our Founding Fathers that we know have made our country so great. Regardless of who gets in office, we can’t afford to go off the grid and reappear in four years – that’s how we lose the game. We need to spend the next four years inspiring younger generations, making a case for conservatism, recruiting passionate people and supporting and shaping conservative candidates for office, regardless of who wins.
I think part of the reason Election Day is so emotional for conservatives is because we are so passionate about America and we truly believe that those values of our Founding Fathers are in her best interest. We get so invested, as many on both sides do, and if conservatism loses, we feel like we’ve failed our great nation. The reality is we only fail if we stop after Election Day.
Do me a favor and take a deep breath. Remember that you live in the greatest country in the world and that no matter what tomorrow morning brings – a few things will always remain the same – God will still reign and those of us on the conservative team will have a lot of work to do.
